Take the Alitalia Bus from Rome's Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumincino) Airport
Just back from Rome yesterday and have a tip for those flying into and out of Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumincino) Airport -- you can take the new Alitalia Bus for 7 euros each way to and from the airport. But you have to be flying on Alitalia (a plane ticket is required to purchase a bus ticket).
I'm not sure exactly when the bus service started but the "New Alitalia" as the airline has been rebranded is heavily promoting the service. There was an advertisement on every seat on my flight from FCO to EWR yesterday.
One minor point of inconvenience for those flying from the U.S. is that the bus is based in Terminal 1 and U.S. flights arrive in and leave Terminal 3. There is a shuttle bus that runs between terminals however.
The bus make stops at several spots in the center of Rome including Termini Train Station is a very affordable new airport transportation option. I've dropped a note to my contact at Alitalia to learn more about the new bus service.

For those flying into Rome and going towards Aquila-Teramo-Guilianova there is also a bus from Fuimicino that departs twice daily. Gaspari is the company and here is the website http://www.gasparionline.it/
I have used it several times and it is amazing - such a great way to get to the Adriatic - MUCH better than taking the shuttle to Tiburtina and waiting for the ANAS bus.
Looks like you had a great trip - one of these days I will come with you!
If you are every flying into Fiumicino and need to get to Aquila-Teramo-Guilianova you should look into the Gaspari Bus.

One of these days you will take me with you, bella!
